Our Philosophy

Sinai Learning Lab draws from three powerful educational philosophies to shape its innovative approach while weaving Jewish learning into everything we do.

We adopt a multi-age classroom model and a focus on skill mastery, creating a collaborative environment where students learn at their own pace and from one another.

We view the learning environment as the 3rd teacher and celebrate the "100 Languages of Children," encouraging expression through art, movement, storytelling, digital media, and more.

From Acton Academy, we incorporate real world learning through hands-on projects, while using questions rather than answers to spark critical thinking and independence.

How We Learn

Our classrooms are not your typical classrooms. There’s no teacher desk at the front, no long lectures - just a space that evolves with the learning. One moment, students work in small focus groups; the next, they become entrepreneurs in a hands-on workshop environment.

Routine With Flexibility

While we follow a set curriculum, students help shape how learning unfolds. One rainy morning our plans to eat in the sukkah were postponed due to the rain. Students' curiosity about where rain comes from led to a thoughtful discussion that we later incorporated into their writing prompts for the day.

Hands-On Learning

Whether students are calculating profit margins for a hot cocoa business or planting parsley for their Passover Seder, Sinai Learning Lab is where learning becomes real, meaningful, and alive.

What Does Hands-On Learning Look Like In Practice?

This Chanukah, students launched their own hot cocoa business from the ground up. They learned about cost of goods, profit margins, marketing, and everything it takes to run a successful business. After selling at carpool, they used their profits to purchase toys for children in the hospital.

Our Values

We center our approach on cultivating curiosity, connection, and courage in our students. These values guide how students explore ideas, take risks, and build meaningful relationships with others.

Curiosity

Curiosity Over Compliance: In many schools, learning is driven by grades and testing. At Sinai Learning Lab, we ignite a love for learning by fostering curiosity. Our students ask questions, solve real-world problems, and explore subjects that interest and excite them. When children are curious, they become lifelong learners.

We see this each week in our Parsha Lab where we learn about the Torah portion of the week. Instead of simply being told what the parsha means, our students investigate its ideas, wrestle with its challenges, and discover how ancient wisdom connects to their lives today.

Connection

Connection Over Competition: In traditional settings, students often feel isolated or measured against their peers. We believe every child plays a vital role in our learning community. Students work across age groups, mentor each other, and take ownership of the space they help create. This sense of responsibility and belonging drives connection, empathy, and personal growth.

When we celebrate Shabbat each Friday, our community pauses to come together as one. Through singing, blessings, and shared traditions, students experience how Shabbat strengthens their connection to one another and deepens their sense of belonging to the Jewish community we are building together.

Courage

Courage Over Fear of Failure: Many children are afraid to make mistakes. We teach that failure is part of the process. By encouraging risk-taking and persistence, our students develop the courage to try new things, solve complex problems, and bounce back stronger. Courage fuels creativity and resilience – essential skills for tomorrow’s leaders.

Each Monday we begin our week with Havdalah, marking the transition from Shabbat’s rest to the possibilities of a new week. In that moment of separation and renewal, students are reminded that every week offers a fresh start—and the courage to try again, take on new challenges, and grow from what they learned the week before.

What We Learn

At Sinai Learning Lab, students build strong foundations in literacy, math, science, social studies, and Judaics - while growing as kind, curious, and connected individuals. We believe character development and Judaics is not separate from academics, but woven into every lesson, project, and experience. Each Learning Goal is tracked using grade-level mastery benchmarks from the Florida State Standards.

Social Studies

Reflecting key concepts from the Florida State Standards, this domain integrates history, geography, civics, and culture in ways that promote critical thinking and meaningful connections to the world. Students explore their roles as informed citizens and develop an understanding of global perspectives.

Every Child Excels

Every child develops in their own way and at their own pace. When extra support is needed, the right team can make all the difference. Through our Every Child Excels Initiative, speech, physical, and occupational therapists work closely with our educators to support each child’s growth. By bringing these professionals together in one place, we ensure that every child receives the care, attention, and tools they need to thrive.
